Discussion on Session 5 „SAFETY & TECHNOLOGY“

PAPER

Question

Kees, what were the year/make/model of the two Kawasaki examples you presented? Also ABS or non-ABS? Lastly, how were you able to confirm the speed was KPH versus MPH

Answer by Kees Duivestein

Both bikes were Kawasaki ZR900B, one built in march 2019, one built in late 2018. Both ABS. The velocity unit in Japan is MPH, but the data was out of a German ECU, which stores km/h. It´s simply a matter of wrong axis labeling.

The reconstruction fits exactly to the EDR-Data, if the analysis is based on km/h. MPH would have been physically clearly impossible in these cases.
